* Don’t ignore the increased cost of driving or taking public transport or bed and breakfast for the night either. Don’t be surprised to find this become hundreds and even thousands of pounds extra. Do the maths yourself – you’ll get a shock.
* Maintaining the privacy of our training is often very important to quite a lot of trainees. You don’t want to sacrifice any job advancement, salary hikes or accomplishment with your current employer because you’re getting trained in a different area. If your employer knows that you’re undertaking training in another area entirely, what are they going to be thinking?
* Asking questions in the presence of other class-mates will sometimes make any one of us a little awkward. Would you admit that you’ve occasionally avoided posing a question because you were worried it might make you look silly?
* More often than not, days in-centre become nigh on undoable, in cases where you work away for days at a time.
Many students discover a more flexible approach is to utilise filmed classes at home, in comfort – studying at your own pace, when it suits you – not someone else.

What chances do most of us have of understanding the tasks faced daily in an IT career when we’ve never done it? Often we haven’t met someone who is in that area at all.

* What nature of individual you consider yourself to be – the tasks that you enjoy doing, and on the other side of the coin – what don’t you like doing.
* What time-frame are you looking at for your training?
* Any personal or home requirements you have?
* Learning what typical Information technology areas and sectors are – and what makes them different.
* Taking a good look at what commitment and time that you can put aside.
For the majority of us, sifting through each of these concepts needs a long talk with an advisor that can explain things properly. And we don’t just mean the qualifications – you also need to understand the commercial requirements also.
